Happy Birthday Mom!: Friday, July 8, 2016
Last day of school! Today I revealed to the third graders that I can actually speak some Spanish. Their reactions were priceless. I also had them sing “Happy Birthday” to Mom. I am sad to be missing both of my parents’ birthdays while I’m here. So we’ll have to have more cake when I return. Since today was the last day we played games at school. I am 100% certain that Rolando was cheating in Monopoly. But since I couldn’t read the cards I couldn’t do anything about it.
Leaving the kids today proved to be extremely difficult. After they all hugged me I was forced to walk out the door with the almost guarantee that I would never see those children again. I had to tell my kids goodbye. And I don’t like saying “goodbye” because it’s so final. But I have to face the reality that my time with these precious kids has come to an end.
This evening we had the young adult (20-29 year olds) group. We had so much fun. And tonight I was able to talk more. However that might have been because I sat between Cesiah and Aline, whom are both bilingual. But anyways we had hamburgers and I made cheesecake brownies. S/O to Chrissy for that recipe. They were a huge hit!
But tonight was my last young adult meeting and though I had some of the most fun I’ve had here yet, I was saddened by the fact that I won’t be together with this group again. So I made sure to enjoy every last second.
