The Cup Song: Monday, June 13, 2016
I have been so encouraged by everything that God is doing back home and how He has been answering my prayers one at a time. I was telling Mark and Serena that even if I don’t impact anyone here, my being here has had an impact on some people back home. But they assured me that I have had an impact here as well.
They said that yesterday Aline was telling them about how she was telling someone about me volunteering at the school. They could not understand why I would come all the way to Mexico to volunteer in the school and not get paid. This gave Aline the opportunity to tell them that I came here because I love God and I want to serve Him and He called me here to help. It’s amazing how God provided her the opportunity to witness.
School today was phenomenal as usual. I really love the third grade class so much. I am not looking forward to the end of school for probably the first time in my life.
Tonight we had the young adult group over (20-29 year olds). Aline (daughter) came and I was so glad to have someone to talk in English with! However, Lili and I were able to talk more today than ever before, which is evidence that I am learning. I also made a fruit pizza for the group and they all loved it. Thanks to Julie for the recipe!
After dinner somehow the cup song was brought up. Serena asked if anyone knew the cup pattern. So of course I started doing it. But then I had to try and teach everyone. It was hilarious. I wish there was a video. I never thought that teaching the cup song to 13 other people was something that I would be doing in Mexico. But hey I’ve done lots of things here I’ve never done before. Plus it gave us all something to bond over and laugh about. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen so much confusion all at once, but now maybe they know how I feel all the time here!
