Today was my first experience in a Mexican church. Before church Mark, Serena, and I had family breakfast. After breakfast Mark exchanged some money with me so I could put some pesos in the offering at church. The exchange rate is roughly 17 pesos to the 1 dollar, but it varies from day to day.
Throughout the service I was so confused. If it weren't for Serena translating to me I don't know what I would have done. Everyone was super friendly though and all of the girls and women kissed my cheek; because that's how they greet one another here. I really need to invest in a Spanish Bible. I would also love to learn a song in Spanish and sing and play it for them. Maybe that can be a goal for the Summer so please pray about that for me!
Some of the teenagers here are trying to learn English and I am trying to learn Spanish. We are all in this awkward place of wanting to communicate with one another but not knowing how. I am praying that God gives me guidance and understanding on how to communicate with them. I am so excited to see how God will continue this work here in Saltillo!
I have been blessed so abundantly that it almost leaves me speechless. God has been so good to me and keeps sending me small reminders each day. Today Kari Ann Smith sent me a message and in the message was a picture of my prayer card and a post-it that read, "Pray for Brianna," hung on a wall. She said that she saw it hanging in her mom's house and thought seeing it would give me encouragement. It most definitely did! She wanted to remind me that there were so many people praying for me back home, and I appreciate every single little reminder because to me they are actually a really big deal. Then Tyler sent me a video of the church group waving to me and saying Hi at their Skate-Lan party. To see that many people all together at one time sending me support and love left me speechless. I almost cried from a five second video! And yesterday Jonathan Powers sent me a message from Albania reminding me that I have so many people praying for me all around the world.
I mention all these people and things they have said to me specifically because I really just cannot express how loved and how blessed that I am. God has been so very good to me and He continues to bless me above and beyond each day. He has placed me with wonderful people here in Saltillo. And I have friends and family literally all around the world who routinely remind me that they love me and are praying for me. I have never before felt such an outpouring of God's love from the people in my life until now. I want to be sure that all my friends and family and every single person out there praying for me knows how much it means to me and how thankful I am for you all!
